5 or 6 egg whites
2 cups sugar
1 cup boiling water
1 tbsp Karo, light
½ tsp vinegar

1 6 oz. pkg. flaked coconut

Directions:
Directions:
In mixing bowl, beat egg whites until very stiff.
Bring to boil on medium heat, the sugar, water, karo & vinegar, stirring only until sugar is dissolved. Continue cooking until mixture reaches soft-ball stage (238º on candy thermometer). Pour slowly into egg whites, with mixer stirring. Add 1 tsp. vanilla. Spread on layers of cake, sprinkling with fresh or thawed frozen coconut flakes. Stack and frost the outside, covering with remaining coconut.
