Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 c. salted butter, softened
1½ teaspoon vanilla
3 cups powdered sugar
¼ c. corn starch
1 T. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Beat softened butter until light and fluffy, 2 to 3 minutes.
Add in vanilla extract and mix until combined and smooth.
Add corn starch, then sugar, 1 cup at a time, mixing in between additions until smooth. After you add in the first 2 cups, add in milk and whip until smooth before adding in the final cup of powdered sugar.
Frost immediately or store covered in an airtight container in refrigerator or freezer. Allow to come to room temperature before frosting your cake.

If frosting is too stiff for easy spreading just add a bit more milk, a drop or two at a time.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This is what most of us consider buttercream frosting, but it melts easily so refrigeration is usually needed. If this is too sweet, or you want a more stable frosting, try the Italian Buttercream instead.
