3 cups all-purpose flour
1 bar Sweet German Chocolate
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla or butter flavoring
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt

Glaze:
1 bar Sweet German Chocolate
1 Tablespoon shortening
1/4 cup water
1 cup confectioner's sugar
Dash of salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla or butter flavoring

Cake:
Partially melt chocolate over hot water. Remove and stir rapidly until melted. Cool. Cram sugar and shortening. Add eggs, flavoring and buttermilk. Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt and then add to shortening mixture. Mix well. Blend in chocolate. Pour into well greased and floured 9-inch tube pan. Bake at 300º about 1-1/2 hours. Remove from pan while still hot and place under tightly fitting cover until thoroughly cooled. Use with or without glaze as desired.

Glaze:
Melt chocolate bar with shortening and water over low heat. Mix in confectioner's sugar and salt. Blend in chocolate mixture and flavoring. Mix and pour over cake.
