Cake:
1 cup crisco solid
2 cups sugar
3 cups cake flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
3/4 cup milk
6 stiffly beaten egg whites
1 teaspoon vanilla

Filling:
6 egg yolks
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
Juice and rind of 2 lemons

Cake:
Cream the crisco and sugar. Sift together the cake flour and baking powder. Alternately add flour mixture and milk. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites and vanilla. Bake in 3 layers at 350º for 25-30 minutes.

Filling:
Mix well all ingredients. Cook in double boiler until thick. Put between layers and on top of cake.
