1 1/2 cup unsifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup solid vegetable shortening
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups old fashioned rolled oats
1 12oz bag semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Grease baking sheets.
Combine the flour, salt and baking soda. Whisk together.
Beat together the shortening, sugar and vanilla, in a large bowl, until creamy.
Add the eggs one at a time to the shortening mixture and beat until light and fluffy.
Gradually beat in the flour mixture.
Beat in the rolled oats.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
Drop the batter onto the greased cookie sheet in well rounded teaspoons.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes, until golden brown.
Cool cookies on cookie sheets wire racks for two minutes.
Remove cookies to the wire racks to cool completely.
