Mom's Christmas Cookies Recipe

2 eggs
1 cup room temperature sweet butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground lemon rind
3 cups all purpose flour1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

For the decorations:
Assorted food colorings
Colored sugars
Rainbow sprinkles
Evaporated milk

In a large bowl put all the ingredients and mix well.
Put dough on a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes until the dough is firm and smooth.
Refrigerate dough for 30 minutes.
Roll dough on a floured surface into 1/4 inch thickness.
Cut using your cookie cutter of choice.
Place cookes ion a greased sheet pan.

For the food coloring we will need to mix evaporated milk with food coloring.
Use any colors desired as well as any colored sugars, sprinkles and any other baking decorations you like.

Paint the cookies and decorate to your likeness.

Bake cookies at 350F for 10-12 minutes.
Cool completley and serve.
