Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Cookies
1½ cup butter (I use salted, but it's a personal preference)
1½ cup sugar
2 eggs
1½ tsp vanilla
3½ cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt

Frosting
1/2 cup butter, softened
4 cups powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla
¼ to ⅓ cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Cookies
Cream the butter and sugar together. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix well. In a separate bowl, mix together your dry ingredients. Add those slowly to the egg mixture and mix well until dough forms. Don't over beat!
Turn the dough out onto plastic wrap and chill at least 3 hours. This step is crucial because with so much butter in the cookies, they are going to fall apart if too soft.
Flour a board Liberally with flour and roll out your cookies.

If your cookies are too soft when rolling them out, add more flour to the board or just work in a few more tablespoons of flour into the dough.

Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes. Keep an eye on them because you want them to JUST start getting golden around the edges. Cool for a couple of minutes before transferring to rack.

Frosting
In a mixing bowl, cream butter. Beat in sugar and vanilla until crumbly. Gradually add milk until frosting reaches desired consistency. Add desired food coloring.
