3 tablespoons Shortening
1 ½ cups Sugar
3 Eggs
2 teaspoons Vanilla
6 cups Flour
3 tablespoons Baking Powder
1 tablespoon Salt
¾ teaspoon Nutmeg
½ teaspoon Cinnamon
1 ¾ cups Milk

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream shortening and sugar until light and creamy.
2. Add eggs. Beat until light and fluffy. Add vanilla.
3. Sift dry ingredients and add to mixture in three equal portions alternately with milk. Mix until smooth.
4. Turn out on to floured surface and roll to 3/8 inch thickness. Cut with floured doughnut cutter.
5. Fry in deep fryer until golden brown. Turn frequently during frying. Drain on absorbent paper.
6. Dip in sugar or cinnamon sugar mixture or serve plain.
