2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup quick oats
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup butter, softened
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla
4 ounces chopped pecans (about 1 cup)
6 ounces chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 300º.
In a medium bowl combine flour, soda, salt and oats. Mix well with whisk and set aside.
In a large bowl, blend sugars with an electric mixer at medium speed. Add butter and mix to form a grainy paste. Scrape down sides of bowl, then add eggs and vanilla. Beat at medium speed until light and fluffy.
Add the flour mixture, pecans and chocolate chips, and blend at low speed just until combined.
Do not overmix.
Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets, 1 1/2 -inches apart.
Bake for 18 to 20 minutes. Immediately transfer cookies with a spatula to a cool, flat surface.
