Ingredients: Tofu 1 block firm tofu 4 tbsp cornstarch 1 tsp salt 1 tsp pepper 1 tbsp avocado oil
Veggies 1 cup fresh broccoli 1 cup fresh green beans 3 cloves garlic chopped 2 tbsp water
Sauce 2 cups hot water (or 2 cups veggie broth) 2 tbsp better than bouillon no beef base vegetarian ( Omit this if using veggie broth ) 4 tbsp Tamari sauce or soy sauce 6 tbsp ketcup 4 tbsp sriracha sauce 4 tbsp pure maple syrup (optional if you want a thicker sauce, 1 heaping tbsp of cornstarch plus 1 tbsp water whisk with fork than add to sauce) chopped peanuts for garnish and cilantro (optional)

Directions:Drain the tofu and cut in small chunks.Whisk the cornstarch, salt and pepper.Heat the oil up in a wok or large sauce pan on med heat. Dip and coat the tofu chunks in the cornstarch mixture,Fry in the pan for several minutes on each side until lightly browned, Remove from pan and drain on paper towel. Add your veggies and garlic with the water.Saute just till slightly tender (do not overcook the veggies they will get soggy when you add the sauce),While the veggies are cooking whisk the sauce ingredients in a bowl.Add the sauce and tofu to the pan with the veggies. Add the cornstarch paste if desired for a thicker sauce.Cook on low heat just till the sauce is warm about 5 min.Serve with rice or noodles.Garnish with peanuts and cilantro. |
