1 package yeast
1 teaspoon salt
4 Tablespoons sugar (scant)
5 Tablespoons shortening (solid)
1 egg
1 cup faucet water
1/2 cup lukewarm water
5 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve the yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water. Let work. Mix together the other ingredients except for 1 cup of water and the flour. Work in the water and flour. Work together well. Do not knead. Leave in bowl. Cover and let rise until double in size. Put in refrigerator until ready to roll out. Punch down. Put on lightly floured board. Roll out. Brush with melted butter, then cut out rounds and fold them over. Put on greased cookie sheet and let rise. Bake at 375º for 10-12 minutes. (Oven temperature may vary.)
