Ingredients:  
1 cup chopped dates (small package)
1 cup boiling water
1 tsp baking soda

1 cup sugar
1 1/2 Tbs Spry (shortening)
1 egg
1 1/2 cup flour + 2 Tbs flour
3/4 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Pour water over dates and baking soda and let rest 15 minutes.
Beat with beater sugar, shortening, egg.
Combine flour and salt. Mix together, alternating wet and dry ingredients.
Bake in bread pan 350 for 1 hour.
