"I have long believed that good food, good eating is all about risk. Whether we're talking about unpasteurized Stilton, raw oysters or working for organized crime 'associates,' food, for me, has always been an adventure."--Anthony Bourdain

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1&1/2 pounds hamburger
1 large yellow onion, chopped
1 medium, head of cabbage, chopped
Bread dough (I use the dinner roll recipe in the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook)

Directions:
Directions:
Brown the hamburger and onion in a large skillet, When meat is no longer pink, add the chopped cabbage. Stir well and. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cover and cook until cabbage is softened. You may need to add the cabbage in a couple of additions. Pan will be full. Stir well and set aside to cool completely
Mix the bread ingredients and knead. Allow to raise and punch dough down,. Divide dough in half and cover remaining dough. Roll dough out to about 1/4 inch thickness and cut in squares about 4 inches wide. Put spoonfuls of filling on the center and bring corners to the middle and pinch together. We like lots of filling As much as you can make fit . You want to make sure they are pinched txogether well, so the filling doesn’t leak out. Repeat with remaining dough. Put on greased baking sheets and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise until almost double. Bake in a 350 degree oven until brown. Brush tops with butter. These may be frozen .

Personal Notes:
This is another German recipe from Marie Hartwig. It took me awhile to make them look good, but is worth the effort . You may use any dinner roll recipe you like. The dough should be the consistency of dinner rolls, not bread, and should not be very sweet.
