2 cups warm water
1 Tbsp. salt
1/2 cup sugar
1 pkg. yeast
1 Tbsp. melted lard
5 cups flour (more or less)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix salt, sugar, shortening, yeast and water. Add flour gradually until dough is stiff enough to kneed. Then turn onto flour board and knead until dough is smooth and elastic.
Place dough into container and cover with cloth. Set in warm place and allow to double in bulk. Work down and make into 3 loaves (or make buns.) Place into a well oiled pan, cover with cloth, and set in warm place to rise again. Bake at 400F for 30 minutes.
