1½ c sugar
½ c shortening
2 eggs
3 very ripe bananas
2 c flour
1 tsp. soda
½ tsp. salt
5 Tbsp. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
½ c pecans

Icing:
¼ lb. butter or margarine
1 lb. powdered sugar, sifted
2 ripe bananas
1 c pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Blend sugar and shortening. Add eggs and mashed bananas. Stir in dry ingredients. Add buttermilk, vanilla and pecans. Bake in two greased and floured (9 in) cake pans @ 325º until brown. You can allow to cool, or ice while hot, it is more moist when iced hot.

Icing: Melt butter in saucepan or in microwave, sift in powdered sugar, add mashed ripe bananas and pecans. Spread on cake. You can add extra pecans to cake and icing if you desire.
