½ cup butter or margarine
½ cup chopped onion
½ cup chopped celery
1 pkg. (6 oz.) chopped brazil nuts (1 cup)
2 cups fresh cranberries, washed
½ cup sugar
½ cup orange juice
1 tbsp. grated orange peel
2 loaves (1 lb. size) raisin bread, sliced
1½ tsp. poultry seasoning
½ tsp. dried savory
⅛ tsp. pepper

Preheat oven to 350º.

1. Melt butter in medium skillet, saute onions, celery and brazil nut - about 5 minutes.

2. Add cranberries, sugar, orange juice and peel. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until cranberries start to pop. Remove from heat, let stand 20 minutes.

3. Cut bread into ½ inch cubes (10 cups). Spread n cookie sheet. Toast in oven for 5 minutes. Combine in a large bowl with salt, poultry seasoning, savory, pepper; toss. Add cranberry mixture; toss lightly.

This recipe was used at Christmas dinner. We always had two dressing at holiday dinners, the oyster dressing in a separate bowl with the turkey being stuffed with this recipe. When we had dinner at Aunt Max and Uncle Connie's home, we had the orange-cranberry dressing and when we had dinner at Mom's we had the standard dressing. Either way, it was always delectable.
