1 lb dry green split peas
1/2 lb cured ham steak, cut into 1-inch pieces
1/2 c onion, diced
1/2 c celery, diced
3 c water
3 c chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
1/2 tsp marjoram
1 bay leaf

Directions:
Directions:
Rinse peas. Add to a large soup pot. Add all ingredients. Bring to simmer, stirring frequently. Cover and simmer on low for 2 hours, stirring occasionally to prevent burning. Remove bay leaf before serving.
