3/4 c shortening
3/4 c cocoa powder
2 1/4 c sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/4 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350. Grease 9x13 pan.

Using a large sauce pan, melt shortening over low heat, then stir in cocoa.

Remove from heat.

Mix in sugar and vanilla, then mix in eggs one at a time.

Stir in remaining dry ingredients, then nuts.

Bake for 25 minutes.
