2 pkgs Yeast
2 Tbsp -Sugar
1 c. Warm Water.

1/2 c sugar,
1/2 c. Crisco
2 Large Eggs, beaten
Salt
2 c Flour


Directions:
Directions:
Scald 1 cup of milk and cool it.
Mix together and let yeast dissolve; 2 tablespoons sugar, 2 packages yeast, 1 cup warm water.
In a bowl combine 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup Crisco, 2 large beaten eggs, Add cool milk. Add 2 teaspoons salt and yeast mixture. Add 3 1/2 cups flour.
Mix well.
Knead dough on a floured surface. Continue kneading and adding small amounts of flour until the dough does not stick to your hands.
Melt 3 tablespoons of Crisco and pour into mixing bowl and roll the top of the dough in the melted grease. Turn over and place a lid (towel) on top of the bowl. Put it in a warm place (top of refrigerator) and let it rise to double in size.
Punch down and let rise again.
Make into rolls or loaves of bread and let rise until double in size.
Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes or longer if loaves of bread.

You have to kind of picture my Grandma making this. There's a rhythm to the kneading/rise process and there's an instinct for how much flour, milk, etc to use for the right consistency. I don't think my Grandma Wells ever tasted store bought bread. If you can capture this recipe you will keep an art alive.
