½ C Soft Shortening
1 C Brown Sugar
2 Eggs
1 C Evaporated Milk
1 tsp. Vanilla
2¾ C Sifted Flour
½ tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp. Salt
1 C Walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Blend together shortening, sugar and eggs. Stir in milk and vanilla.

Sift together dry ingredients and add to mixture. Blend in nuts.

Chill for 1 hour.

Space cookies 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet for about 10 minutes in 375 F oven.

Frost while warm.

Variations: Add 1 cup dates, raisins, coconut or chocolate chips.
