5 cups all purpose flour
¾ c shortening (not butter)
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
3 tsp baking powder
3 tsp sugar
1 pkg dry yeast dissolved in ½ c warm water
2 c buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together all dry ingredients. Cut in shortening till the size of peas. Add buttermilk and yeast. Stir until all flour is moistened.

Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets 2 inches apart. Bake at 450º for 10 minutes or until lightly browned.

Dough will keep in the refrigerator for a week if covered.
