1 c butter
1/4 c icing sugar
2 c all purpose flour sifted
1/4 tsp salt
1 c finely chopped almonds
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 lb candied cherries

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter with sugar until fluffy. Add remaining ingredients, except cherries, mixing well with hands. Flatten a small bit of dough, about a tsp for each cookie in palm of hand. Place candied cherry on circle of dough and cover cherry by pinching dough up and around it and roll between palms of hands to smooth. Place on greased baking sheets and bake in moderately slow oven (325ºF) about 35 min. While still hot, roll in fine granulated sugar. Keep in tightly covered container. They will keep for weeks.
