¼ cup shortening
¼ cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1½ cups flour
3 tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. salt
1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Filling and Topping:
2 Tbsp. butter
½ cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
½ cup chopped walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar together; mix in eggs, milk and vanilla. Add dry ingredients; mix well. Put half of the batter in an 8x8-inch pan. Cover with half of the filling crumbs. Put remainder of batter over this and top with remaining filling crumbs.

Bake at 350º for 30-35 minutes.
