1/2 c. shortening
1 1/4 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs, unbeaten
1 c. boiling water
1/2 c. Hershey's cocoa
1 3/4 c. cake flour or
1 1/2 c. (all purpose) flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well.
Add ingredients as called for and after adding them all without stirring, beat vigorously until smooth. Turn into 2 greased and floured 8" layer pans.
Bake in moderate oven (350F) 30 - 35 min. or until done.
