Ingredients:
(I half the recipe-it makes a ton. But I'm writing the whole recipe here)

2 (6 1/4) oz. cans minced clams

3/4 C. chopped onion

1 C. finely chopped celery

4 C. diced potatoes

3/4 C. butter

3/4 C. flour

1 1/2 tsp. salt, divided

1/2 tsp. sugar

pepper to taste

1 quart of half & half or 1 pint of cream and 1 pint of milk

Directions:
Directions:
Drain juice from clams and pour over vegetables. Add enough water to cover. Add 3/4 teaspoon of salt. Simmer for 8 minutes. Add clams and simmer another 5 minutes. In a separate, smaller pan, melt butter, add flour, rest of salt, pepper and sugar and stir quickly and constantly so you don't get lumps. After about a minute, stir in milk and cream or half and half. Cook til it's really thick. Then pour into your pot of potatoes and clams. If you want to thicken it more, mix a little cornstarch with a little milk and then pour it into the pot of chowder.
