4 cups flour
1/4 cup salted softened butter
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 cups raisins
1 large lightly beaten egg
1 3/4 cup buttermilk

Directions:
Heat oven to 375
In a large mixing bowl cut the butter into the flour until it looks like coarse crumbs
Stir in the sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt, Add the raisens. Make a well in the center of this mixture where you will put the liquid ingredients
In a separate bowl beat together the egg and the buttermilk
Pour buttermilk mixture into the well of the flour mixture and mix with a wooden spoon
Form dough into a ball and knead it on a lightly foured board for 3-5 minutes
With a sharp knife divide the dough in half. Divide each half into eight portions
place buns on a large lightly greased light colored baking sheet. They should be a few inches apart. Flatten Slightly with your hand and score with an X shape about an inch deep using a sharp floured knife
Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
