3/4 Cup lard **
1/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 cups cake & pastry flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup smarties ***

Directions:
Directions:
1. Pre-heat oven to 325º
2. Mix lard and butter until soft. Add sugar and mix until well blended. Add eggs, one at a time, until smooth. Mix vanilla

3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, salt and baking soda
4. Add dry ingredients to wet mixture, a little at a time, and beat until smooth.
5. Fold in smarties
6. Drop by the teaspoonful onto parchment covered cookies sheet. Bake for approximately 10 min, or til browned around
the edges. Cool on wire rack.



** Lard can be replaced with equal amounts butter, however cookie texture will change
*** Of course, smarties can be substituted for chocolate chips.
