1 3/4 cup boiling water
1 cup uncooked oatmeal, quick or old fashioned
1 cup lightly packed brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
2 extra large eggs
1 3/4 cups flour
1 teas. baking soda
1 teas. salt
1 Tbsp. cocoa
12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup walnuts, chopped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9 x 13 inch pan.

Pour boiling water over oatmeal and let stand at room temperature for 10 minutes. Add brown sugar, white sugar and butter. Stir until butter melts. Add eggs and mix well. Whisk together flour, soda, salt, and cocoa. Add flour mixture to sugar mixture and mix well. Add about half of the chocolate chips. Pour batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle walnuts and remaining chocolate chips on top. Bake 30 minutes (or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean) at 350 degrees.
