4 cups All Purpose Flour
1/4 cup Sugar
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Baking Soda
2 cups Seedless Raisins
2 tbls Caraway seeds
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 1/3 Cups of Buttermilk or (1 1/3 cup Milk and 1 1/2 T. white vinegar)
1 stick of melted Butter (In Microwave)

Preheat oven 350 degrees.

Grease and lightly flour glass baking dish. I use a Pyrex Dutch Oven. In mixing bowl, mix together dry ingredients except the baking soda. Add raisins and caraway seeds mixing well to coat raisins and the add butter to dry ingredients. Mix buttermilk, egg,and baking soda together and add to dry ingredients. Knead dough and then shape in a flat round disk. Cut a cross on the top and bake for 1 hour. When done stick a toothpick into it to see if it comes out clean.
