½ cup white sugar
½ cup butter
1 egg
1 cup of molasses
2 ½ cup all-purpose flour
1 ½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
½ tsp ground cloves
1 cup hot water

Directions:

Preheat Oven 350º greased and floured 9 in pan

Cream together sugar and butter.
Add egg and beat well
mix in molasses

Sift all dry ingredients until mixed well
Mix in dry with wet ingredients

Pour batter into pan and bake for 1 hour

Let cool in pan and serve
