½ cup butter
½ cup flour
½ cup sugar
½ cup milk
1 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
fruit...peaches or blackberries (fresh or thawed frozen)...sprinkle with sugar and set aside.

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º
Place the butter into a small oven proof baking dish and put into the oven to melt.
Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and milk.
Pour the batter into the dish of melted butter.
Pour the fruit on top of the batter and bake for 35-45 minutes.

This recipe can be doubled or tripled!

Ma made the main meal at lunch time. She would leave the leftovers on the table and cover them with a tablecloth. All of the grand kids would sneak into the kitchen to see what Ma had "under her rag" for an afternoon snack...we were always very excited if we found cobbler there!
