Directions: |
Directions:Open the cans of water chestnuts and drain. Place them in a small bowl with a tight fittting lid. Pour the teriyaki marinade over the water chestnuts. Seal the bowl and shake a few times to make sure all of the water chestnuts are coated. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours but as long as over night. Cut the bacon strips into thirds. In a shallow bowl, thoroughly mix the cayenne pepper into the brown sugar. Gather toothpicks and remove the chestnuts from the refrigerator. One at a time, roll each water chestnut into the brown sugar mixture. Then wrap it one of the bacon strip thirds and secure it with a toothpick. Place the completed roll on the broiler pan and roll your next water chestnut. Once all the water chestnuts have been assembled, broil them for 6 minutes turning half way through until the bacon is nice and crispy. |

Notes: This recipe is reminiscent of 1960s cocktail parties. A true classic, it never goes out of style, it is just too darn delicious! Because of the sticky & greasy rolling process, this prep job has traditionally been awarded to whatever kids were around. I never minded it as a kid because I knew I could get extra for putting them together!
