1 cup butter (no substitutions) softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup confectioners sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
dash of salt

Directions:
Directions:
In a mixing bowl cream butter and sugars. Add egg and vanilla. In separate bowl combine flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and a dash of salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture - mixing until smooth. Chill for several hours or over night. Roll into 1 inch balls then roll in sugar to coat. Place on cookie sheet and press down won top of cookie with decorative glass. BAke at 350 degrees for 13-15 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.
