Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 lb ground beef
1 16-oz can tomato sauce
1 16-oz can jellied cranberry sauce
1 C water
1/2 C bottled barbecue sauce (I’ve always used Open Pit)
1 tsp salt (this can be omitted)
1 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
elbow macaroni, cooked per box instructions

Directions:
Directions:
1) In large skillet brown meat and drain excess fat. Stir in tomato sauce, cranberry sauce, water, barbecue sauce, and seasonings. Cook, uncovered, over medium-low heat 15-20 minutes. Serve over hot macaroni.
2) Alternative method - brown the meat in a skillet and drain. Add meat and all other ingredients except the pasta into a crock pot. Cook on low for 2-3 hours to let the flavors come together.

Personal Notes:
Note: Why it got the name “bake” i’ll never know. This recipe was probably the first thing I ever cooked as a kid. I remember making it as young as 10. We’d make a big batch of the meat sauce and freeze leftovers in fluff containers. I’d take out and microwave single servings when my mother would work late.
