Berry Filling:
4 cups of fresh Marian berries (or black raspberries)
2 tblsp. cornstarch
1/4 cup water
2/3 to1 cup sugar depending on sweetness of berries
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Cobbler Topping:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1//2 tsp. salt
1 egg, beaten
1 tblsp. melted butter
1/4 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix cornstarch with water until dissolved then stir into sugar until very smooth. Toss lightly with berries and place them into a deep, 9 inch ceramic baking dish. Sprinkle cinnamon over surface.

Sift dry cobbler ingredients together. Combine egg, butter and milk then mix into flour until smooth. Cover fruit with batter.
Bake at 425º for about 30 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Walt Read's Marian Berry patch was forty feet long and produced a prodigious amount of fruit each year. Most potluck dinners at LYH were graced with Lori's well-known and much appreciated cobbler.
