3 cups flour
1 cup lard or butter
1 cup ice water

Pulse flour and fat in food processor until it clumps, then slowly drizzle ice water into the mix until a ball forms. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 1 hour. Separate into 6 even pieces and roll into circles. Fill, fold, and seal, using water on the rims. Cut 3 slots on top and brush with egg.

Bake on parchment paper in a 350º oven, an hour and 15 minutes for raw filling, 15-20 minutes for leftovers.

Traditionally Cornish, this recipe came from Michigan. These are also called "hand pies. :)

I have added a bit of sugar to the mixture and used for fruit pies.
