Baked Perishki Recipe

1 cup lukewarm water
2 teaspoons sugar
2 pkgs yeast
1 cup milk
5 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 beaten eggs
1/2 cup oil
2 tablespoons sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Mix lukewarm water, sugar and yeast together. Let rise 10 minutes.

Scald milk and cool. Measure and add flour, salt, eggs oil and sugar. Add milk and yeast to this. Knead this to make soft dough. Let rise about 20 minutes. Punch down then start to make Perishki. Roll out dough about 3/8 inch thick and cut in circles. Put 1 teaspoon filling in center. Pinch together and put on greased cookie sheet about 3/4 inches apart to allow for rising. Let rise about 15 minutes. Bake in 350 degrees oven until nicely browned. Brush with butter. Serve with a cream sauce.

FILLING:
1) Boil and mash potatoes and add finely chooped raw onion and dill. OR
2) Cottage cheese and dill

CREAM SAUCE:
Saute 3 tablespoons butter and 1 large onion. Add 3 tablespoons flour or corn starch and 1 1/2 cups cream. Cook gently and add finely chopped dill, parsley or chives if desired.
