c. uncooked prunes
1 c. uncooked quick cooking oats
c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1 lg. egg
c. soft shortening
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Snip prunes into small pieces and set aside. In order given, measure remaining ingredients into mixing bowl. Beat at low speed until well blended. Stir in prunes. Drop by level tablespoonfuls onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 375 for 13-15 minutes, until edges are browned. Cool on wire racks.

*To make cookies by hand, cream shortening, sugar, egg and vanilla until well mixed. Add dry ingredients, and stir until well blended. Stir in prunes.

I really like this recipe. The prunes may sound like a weird ingredient but they taste very good...better than raisins!!
