2 Cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoons salt
2 egg whites
1 cup sugar
½ teaspoon almond extract
16 finely chopped drained cherries
½ cup margarine, softened
2 egg yolks
½ cup cherry juice from jar

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Grease two 8 " round cake pans. In a small bowl, sift flour with baking powder and salt, mix at high speed. Beat egg whites until soft peaks and gradually add 1/4 cup sugar beating well until stiff peaks form. In large bowl cream butter with remaining sugar, mix at medium speed until fluffy. Add egg yolks beating well, add flour and beat at low speed, add cherry juice and almond extract, gently fold in egg whites along with cherries. Place mixture into pans and bake 40 minutes.
