1/2 c butter at room temp., plus more to grease pan
5 medium sweet potatoes
2 large eggs
1 c sugar
1 1/2 t vanilla
1/2 c milk
pinch of salt

TOPPING
1 c finely chopped pecans
1 c brown sugar, packed
1/2 c flour
1/4 c butter, softened

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 2 1/2 qt baking dish with butter.

Poke potatoes with a fork and bake on a foil-covered baking sheet until they are soft, 1 hour. When cool enough to handle, peel potatoes, put in large bowl and mash till very smooth. Add eggs, sugar, butter, vanilla, milk and salt. Com-bine well with mixer and turn into baking dish.

TOPPING
Stir together pecans, brown sugar, flour and butter until thoroughly combined. Spoon over sweet potatoes in an even layer. Bake until slightly browned, 40 minutes. Let set for 5 minutes before serving.
