5 - 10 pound smoked ham (spiral-sliced for earsier service)

1-C dark brown sugar

1- 16oz slice pineapple in heavy syrup

1 small jar cherries



Directions:

1. Bake according to package instructions.

2. Stud ham with whole cloves.

2. Remove ham from oven during the last 20 minutes of cooking.

3. Mix brown sugar, pineapple juice, ground cloves and syrup from cherries.

4. Use toohtpicks to attach pineapple to ham.

5. Pour syrup mixture over ham and return to oven to complete baking time. Allow to cool for 20 minutes before serving.

Baked ham used to be the family's Christmas alternative to turkey. However, one Christmas Mama decided to try a new recipe. Thus was born the Cornish Hens ala' Bourbon.
