½ cup Shortening, softened
1 cup Brown Sugar
½ cup White Sugar
2 Eggs
1 cup undiluted Evaporated Milk
1 tsp Vanilla
2¾ cups sifted Flour
½ tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Salt
1 cup Nuts, Coconut Dates, Chocolate Chips (all optional)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375º.

Mix shortening, sugars, eggs. Stir in milk and vanilla. In a separate bowl, sift flour, soda, and salt. Add to the sugar mixture. Blend in nuts or whatever you choose. Chill batter for an hour. Drop by tablespoon onto a cookie sheet. Bake until done.

Glaze: Heat 2 tablespoons butter until brown. Beat in 2 cups sugar and ¼ cup evaporated milk. Ice cooled cookies.
