2 heaping tbs. Sugar
2 c. Flour
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder

1/4 c. Shortening (cold)

2 tbs. Caraway Seeds
1/2 c. Raisons or Currents

1/2 c. plus 2 tbs. Buttermilk
1 Egg
1 tsp. Baking Soda

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º F.

Grease and flour 8" cake pan.
Sift together first 4 ingredients.
Cut cold shortening into mixture until pea sized shape.
Cut Caraway Seeds and Raisons or Currents into mixture.
Knead together Buttermilk, Egg, Baking Soda together to make a glaze.
Press flat into pan.
Cut an "X" on top.
Bake for 30 - 35 minutes.
Brush glaze on top of bread.
