1¾ cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
½ cup sugar
½ cup dark brown sugar, packed
½ cup shortening (Crisco)
½ cup peanut butter
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 Tbls milk
48 or more Hershey Kisses (unwrapped)
small bowl of white sugar for rolling in

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all except kisses on lowest speed of mixer until dough forms a ball.
Roll in 1" balls.
Roll in a bowl of white sugar.
Place on cookie sheets.

Bake at 375º for 5 minutes. Rotate tray and bake 5 more minutes, or until slightly brown.
Take out of oven and lightly press a Hershey Kiss into each cookie.

Cool on racks until kisses become firm again.

Store in tins with wax paper between layers.
