1 cup long-grain white rice
2 tablespoons butter
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon turmeric
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Wash rice. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine rice and enough cold water to cover rice by an inch. Simmer without stirring for 15 minutes, or until the rice is almost tender. Remove from heat and strain. in a large pan, melt the butter over low heat and sauté onions until translucent. Stir in turmeric, salt, and pepper and cook for 5 minutes or until onions are tender. Add the rice and cook until hot, taste, and adjust seasoning.
