Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 slightly heaping cups of plain flour
2 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/3 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Put all ingredients except the buttermilk in a bowl and cut the shortening into the mixture with a pastry blender or a fork until the shortening is less than pea size. Then use a wooden spoon or sturdy metal spoon to mix until blended together (maybe 8 - 10 good stirs). Turn out onto a floured piece of waxed paper and mash down to @ 1 1/2" thickness, fold in half and mash down and fold again, repeat approximately 6 - 8 times. Then pat down to @ 3/4" thick and cut into whatever size you want. Arrange on cookie sheet slightly touching. Incorporate the spare pieces of dough and cut more. Use it all as it all makes biscuits. Bake on middle rack in oven at 475º for 10 - 12 minutes until brown as you like.
