2 envelopes of unflavored gelatin
½ cup cold water
8 egg yolks
1 cup sugar
2 cups scalded milk
2 tsp vanilla or almond extract
dash of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Add gelatin to water to soften.

Beat egg yolks and sugar together until creamy.
Put in a double boiler and heat. Gradually add the hot milk and salt.
Cook, stirring, until thickened,
Remove from heat and add the gelatin and flavoring. Stir until disolved.
Cool covered.
