Cake:
2 sticks butter
2 cups sugar
3 eggs (separated)
1 square melted chocolate
3 cups plain flour
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

Icing:
2 sticks butter
2 cups sugar
1 cup canned milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Cake:

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks and beat. Add chocolate, then dry ingredients alternately with milk. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites last. Bake at 325º for 1 hour in tube pan. While cake is baking make icing.

Icing:

Bring to boil all ingredients; simmer for 1 hour. Let cool and beat until thick enough to spread (275º to 300º). 45 minutes may do it, depending on degrees.
