Grammy's Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe

3 c. flour
2 T. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
¾ c. Crisco shortening (butter flavored preferred)
1¾c. buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 450º. Grease a cookie sheet.

Stir dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Cut shortening into flour using a pastry blender or 2 knives.

Add buttermilk slowly, mixing with a spoon. Turn onto a floured surface and sprinkle top with flour.

Knead about 10-12 times. Pat flat until about ½ inch thick. Cut biscuits and place on cookie sheet. Spray top of biscuits with cooking spray or brush a small amount of oil on top of biscuits.

Bake for 10-12 min; tops should be golden brown.

Tip: Shake the extra flour off the bottom of the biscuit before putting it on the cookie sheet to keep the bottom from burning.
