1-2 lb Ground Beef
1 Onion - diced
1 Bellpepper - diced
3 stalks Celery - diced
1 clove Garlic - thinly sliced
1 stick Margarine (or Butter with 1 T Oil )
1/2 c Red Wine
2-3 T Italian Seasoning
1 T Onion Powder and Garlic Powder
1 tsp Salt and Pepper and Celery Salt
1 T Sugar
2 29 oz Diced Tomatoes with juice
2 Jars Prego or other marinara base
2 Bay Leaves - remove before serving

1-2 lb Pasta - boiled and drained.

Brown Ground beef, rinse and drain. Set aside.
Melt butter over low heat and add celery, onion, bellpepper and garlic. Add all seasonings and saute until tender. Add wine, diced tomatoes, sugar, bay leaves and marinara base. Simmer for 20-30 minutes. Add browned ground beef and simmer for 30 minutes or longer.

Serve over pasta. ( I prefer angel hair) . May sprinkle with parmesan or romano cheese.

Serve with garlic bread

( Ingredients may be reduced by half for less servings. Sauce freezes well )

I first made this sauce as a teenager and it has become one of my signature dishes. This has always been a winter comfort food in our our home. Perfect for feeding a crowd or just the family with plenty of leftovers! It tastes even better the next day !
